FILE MANAGER

Administering your Folders and Files

The File Manager allows you to remotely work on your files and folders without using extra applications. It functions in a similar fashion to FTP programs. This means the File Manager allows you to: create and open folders, rename and delete files and folders, change permissions and upload files. Additionally, you can directly edit your web page code.

Note: Just like FTP programs, the File Manager does not allow viewing the content of files. For example, when you click on a web page file you will NOT see what the contents of the web page look like. Instead you will have the ability to directly modify your HTML code.

Creating Sub-Folders

1. Navigate to the location where you want to create your new folder. You can orient yourself by looking at your path c:\hosting\
2. At the Create a new sub-folder in current folder: field type the name of the folder you want to create and click on Create.

File and Sub-Folder Administration

To modify your files or folders click on its corresponding icon.

Open folder

Rename folder

Delete file or folder

Change or modify folder and file permissions.

Uploading Files

1. Click on Browse. Select the file to upload from your local computer in the pop up window.
2. Once the file is selected you will see the absolute path in the upload field.
3. Click the Upload Now button.

Note: If you are uploading a large file the system may look like it is not doing anything; this is because windows does not show upload progress. The system will notify you when the upload is completed.

Editing Web Page Code (HTML)*

To edit your web page code directly from the server find your web page file and click on its name. The system will take you to another page where you will see the entire code for that particular file. To save changes click on the Save button.

*It is assumed that you are already familiar with HTML and or ASP coding.
