FTP MANAGER

Creating, Deleting and Modifying FTP accounts

The FTP Manager allows you to create FTP accounts from which to upload and download content to your web site by using the FTP application of your choice. Having this system in place is advantageous to you because it gives you greater flexibility to manage your site.

Note: You can find free FTP applications for download at download.com We recommend obtaining WS_FTP. Obtaining an FTP program and learning how to use it is your responsibility.

Creating FTP Accounts

1. UserID: Enter the new account name

2. Password: Enter a corresponding password

Note: For security purposes, all FTP accounts created will carry your loginID in front of the account name. For example, if your ID is mark3510 and you add account grape your ftp loginID will be mark3510grape.

3. Directory Name: Specify the starting path for the account [ more info ]

4. Directory Access: Enter permissions for the new FTP account

R=Read	Grants account the ability to view the contents of a file.
W=Write	Grants account the ability to make changes to files and folders (and can write to file even if Read permissions are not included).
A=Append	Grants account the ability to append to a file. (Adding contents of one file to another without opening either one.)
M=Delete	Grants account the ability to delete files and folders.
L=List	Grants account the ability to see the content in folders. If turned off, users can still upload but cannot see what files are in the folder.
C=Make	Grants account the ability to create folders.
D=Remove	Grants account the ability to erase folders.
P=Inherit	System use only. Do not omit this key.

5. Click Add FTP Account and confirm addition.

Modifying FTP Accounts

Select the FTP account to modify and click on EDIT

1. Password: Change account's password
2. Directory Name: Enter path where this account will log in
3. Directory Access: Refer to step 4 below
4. Click Modify FTP Account and confirm

Deleting FTP Accounts

1. Current FTP Accounts: select the account and click the red button
2. Confirm deletion and continue
