Q: How do I change the server hosting my e-mail
accounts?
A: This process will walk you
through relocating your e-mail service from one server to another. This is
accomplished by, first, creating duplicates of your e-mail accounts in a
new server. And second, having service changed to the new e-mail server.
| Note:
You can only do this if a technician instructed you to do so. Do not
attempt to do this without the approval of Tech Support. |
1. Make
sure that all your mailboxes in your current server are empty. If you use
Outlook, skip to step 2. (Outlook automatically downloads messages to your
computer.)
-
Access your Control
Panel and Log in Web
Mail
-
Make sure there are no
unread messages
-
If possible, forward these
to another account, or download them to your computer
2. Login
the mail server given to you by tech support.
http://[ip_address]/cgi-bin/qmailadmin
(i.e. http://66.102.130.90/cgi-bin/qmailadmin)
Login with:
Useraccount: postmaster (leave as is)
Domain: your domain.com (do not type www)
Password: your password
3. Re-create
your e-mail accounts. Make sure that each e-mail account has the same
password it was using in the old mail server (to avoid any possible
problems). Follow these instructions:

4. Repeat
this process for every domain you have in your hosting account.
| Note:
remember to flush your Internet cache and reboot your computer
before trying to read mail again. |
