POP3 and SMTP

Setting up E-Mail on a POP3 Client   (Outlook, Eudora, Netscape Communicator, etc.)

Q: How do I create POP3 Email Accounts?
A:
  Follow these steps:

  1. Create an e-mail account in the mail server (see Mail/List Administration)

  2. Select your POP client and see instructions:

It is recommended using e-mail clients in order to avoid filling up your online mailbox. When this happens, incoming mail is rejected and does not reach your box. E-mail clients download mail to your computer and keep your online mailbox free of clutter, therefore ensuring that you receive all your mail.

NOTE: This information will be the same regardless of e-mail client:

mail@yourdomain.com
Your Email Address is: account@(yourdomain).com
Your Email Account Name is: account@(yourdomain).com
Your Email Member Password is: Account Password
POP3 & SMTP Server Address is: mail.(yourdomain).com

POP3 and SMTP Issues

Q: What is my POP3 and SMTP server?
A:
This information is listed on the left hand side of your Control Panel page.

Q: Why am I not able to check e-mail with MS Outlook?
A:
Your login ID needs to be reconfigured. Make sure to set your Email Login ID to your FULL email address. For example, if you are checking e-mail for abc@123.com, you must use abc@123.com as your login ID.

Q: Why am I able to receive mail but cannot connect and send e-mail with my SMTP server?
A:
Your ISP does not allow you to use 3rd party SMTP server other then theirs.  To fix this, contact your ISP and ask for their SMTP server to use.

Q: What SMTP server should I use for my Scripts?
A:
Please use mail.webhost4life.com as your SMTP server in your script. (Using mail.ehostingbiz.com will not work.)

Creating Mail Accounts before switching your Domain to our DNS Servers

Q: How do I setup mail accounts before I switching over?
A:
See these instructions:

  1. Contact support and ask for the mail server IP hosting your account.

  2. Login to this URL and enter your information:

http://(serverIP)/cgi-bin/qmailadmin

Master Account: postmaster
Your Domain Name: domain.com  (do not add www in front)
Password : hosting password  (This is case sensitive)

This will let you setup your mail accounts but you will not be able to send/receive until you change your domain's DNS settings to ours.
